Samsung said on November 3, 2026 that its updated Sleep Apnea feature is now available on Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring. The feature received US Food and Drug Administration clearance in July 2026, and it has now also been approved by South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Samsung says this makes it the first company to bring sleep apnea risk detection to a smart ring.

newsWhat is new
Samsung says the updated feature uses an enhanced algorithm that analyzes a user's vital signs during sleep, and that it is a significant step up from the earlier version. The feature is available through the Samsung Health Monitor app.
Where it goes next
Samsung says the Korean approval paves the way for expansion to more countries. The company did not name the countries in its release.
What it is, and is not
Samsung describes the feature as sleep apnea risk detection. It is a screening feature rather than a diagnosis. Anyone who notices symptoms such as loud snoring, pauses in breathing or daytime tiredness should speak to a doctor.
