Who this policy covers
This policy explains how [Legal entity name] (“SpexHive”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you use spexhive.com. If you have a question about this policy, contact us at contact@spexhive.com.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Information you give us
Account details: when you register we collect a username, an email address and a password. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form, and we cannot read them.
Your activity on the site: if you signed in, we store the devices you fan, the brands you fan, the devices you own, have owned or want, and any reviews, replies, votes or reports you make.
Tips and contact messages: if you send us a tip or message, we store the name, email address, subject and message you give us.
Information collected automatically
Device views: when a device page is opened, we add one to that device’s view count for the date in your local time zone. These counts are stored per device and per date. They are not linked to your account or to your identity, and they are used to show the most viewed devices.
Technical data: our hosting providers record standard server logs, which can include your IP address, the time of a request, the page requested, and your browser type. We use these logs to keep the site running and secure. Hosting providers keep logs for periods set by their own policies.
Cookies and local storage
SpexHive does not set advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser’s local storage and session storage for the things the site needs to work: keeping you signed in (a login token that lasts seven days), remembering your comparison list, and remembering your Phone Finder filters and scroll position while you browse. You can clear this storage at any time in your browser settings. Clearing it will sign you out.
Third-party services
We use third-party services to run the site. They receive only the information needed for their role:
Hosting and infrastructure providers, which run our website and database. Our database is hosted on MongoDB Atlas and our servers on Northflank; our website is served by Vercel.
Google Fonts, which loads the typefaces used on the site. Loading a font sends your IP address to Google.
Image services: some device images are loaded through our own servers, and brand logos are loaded from an icon service. Those services can see the requests they receive.
Buy links on the Deals and device pages go to retailer websites, which have their own privacy policies.
How we use your information
To create and run your account, show your saved devices and reviews, answer your messages, keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and understand which devices people are interested in. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account details and your saved devices, reviews and votes. Some content may remain in anonymised form, for example a review you posted, which will show as written by a deleted user.
We keep tips and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and to keep records of corrections.
Where data is stored
Our servers and databases are hosted in data centres in Europe and the United States. By using SpexHive you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.
Security
We use HTTPS to protect data sent between your browser and our site, store passwords in hashed form, and restrict administrative functions to admin accounts. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to or withdraw consent for some processing. You can use your account settings to change most details, or email contact@spexhive.com to make a request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you on the site.
