Redmi K100 Heads to China on October 27 With a Near 10,000 mAh Battery Rumored
Update, October 27: Redmi has confirmed the launch for October 27 at 7 PM China time, and Xiaomi has confirmed a 10,000 mAh battery with 100 W wired charging. The chip, camera megapixel counts and price are still unconfirmed.
Correction, October 25: The October 24 note said Xiaomi had confirmed the launch and that the camera was confirmed. Reports now disagree. Some give October 27 and others October 28, and the camera is reported as 50 MP in a teaser, while other reports say the camera has not been announced. Charging speed and price are not confirmed.
The standard Redmi K100 is getting close to launch. A new device carrying the model number M786BC cleared China's 3C certification on October 12 with a 100 W charging rating, and a tipster has tied it to the K100. One report says Redmi will launch the phone in China on October 27, and a Firefly Green color has already surfaced ahead of the event. Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the date, the name, or the price, so treat October 27 as the likely date rather than a locked one.
The K100 is the standard model in a line that already includes the Redmi K100 Pro Max launched in August, which Xiaomi says is the top of the range while the standard K100 fills in beneath it.
What the leaks say
Leaks point to a battery approaching 10,000 mAh, a figure that would be among the largest ever fitted to a mainstream Redmi phone. The same leaks describe Qualcomm's original Snapdragon 8 Elite chip rather than the newer Gen 5 version, and a 1.5K resolution display. A later leak suggests a 200 MP main camera and a screen with more pixels than the previous model. None of these details has come from Xiaomi, so they should be read as expectations, not specifications.
A separate leak from October 10 covered a different device, the Redmi Turbo 6 Max, with a battery above 10,000 mAh, a flat OLED screen around 7 inches and 2K resolution. That tipster did not name the phone, and it is not clear yet whether it is a separate model or the same one under a different name.
| Feature | Leaked detail |
|---|---|
| Charging rating | 100 W (3C certification) |
| Battery | Approaching 10,000 mAh |
| Chip | Snapdragon 8 Elite (original) |
| Display | 1.5K resolution, flat panel |
| Main camera | 200 MP (later leak) |
What to watch before October 27
The main open questions are price and whether the K100 will reach markets outside China. Redmi has launched strong standard models abroad before, often under a different name, so a global version is possible but has not been announced. Watch for Xiaomi's own launch invitation, which will confirm the date, the name and the price, and then check whether the phone is listed on Xiaomi's regional sites.
